The Navy Virtual Library is a new Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) online service arising out of a Department of Defense (DOD) joint service initiative to combine resources and efforts of the four branches of service (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force) and the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community & Family Policy.

Because the internet is a popular and powerful tool used for information access, education, and entertainment, the services have contracted with a world leader in Information Resources to deliver the highest value of library services to the DOD community. DOD Libraries is transforming the way MWR provides online library services to our service members and families, empowering them to embrace life-learn learning, revitalize, and most importantly, be mission-ready. Search for new library materials; learn a new language; find a tutor; check out a digital book: these are just a few of the services offered in our new one-stop library shop.
